Malcolm Gladwell explains Segmentation
I just ran across an old TED talk from Malcolm Gladwell, author of many books.
In the talk, he explains (in an entertaining fashion) what segmentation is and why it is important. I enjoyed it, I hope you do too…








John – I just came across this video a couple of weeks ago and used it in a college business class that I was teaching in Ukraine. It was a great illustration and the students immediately grasped the concept of segmentation and I was able to build on it from there. Thanks for sharing. I am always interested in picking up tools that help people grasp the concepts of pricing in ways that make sense to non-analytic people such as some of our sales reps.
One other thing I like about this video is that it shows that segmentation is good for both the producer (provide a more targeted product) and the consumer (getting more satisfaction from the product).
